How many plates do you need for a vehicle?

This cannot be said in general terms, as it depends on several factors.

    This sound insulation is only needed on smooth, larger surfaces, typically on side walls and roofs. There's no point in attaching these panels to the floor, wheel arches, or side members.
    To extrapolate, simply count the smooth surfaces in the (empty) vehicle. Count 1 for large surfaces and 0.5 for small surfaces.
    On smooth surfaces, it is sufficient to cover about a quarter to a third of the area in the middle with a plate. For smaller areas, you can divide the plates (with a knife or good scissors).
    DO NOT cover any edges or grooves, or tight curves (e.g., wheel arches). VANUE Acoustic offers no significant benefit there, and it just adds unnecessary weight to the vehicle.
    If in doubt, it is better to order too little than too much.
    The 2.0 mm plates are heavier and therefore more effective, while the 1.2 mm version is lighter. Use 1.2 mm if you have limited payload reserve, and 2.0 mm if you want the best effect and weight isn't quite as important.

The principle is that large, smooth surfaces become "heavier" when weight is applied, and therefore vibrate less and produce less noise. This is a very simplified explanation.
